John 3:16
Many people learned this verse as the first one they ever memorized. It sits inside a night-time talk between Jesus and Nicodemus, a teacher who came looking for answers. It says why Jesus came and what it costs God to love the world.

A verse is always best read in its chapter.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only born Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
